What it runs

Why this GPU specifically in 2026

The 3060 12GB is the last cheap 12GB card on the market. NVIDIA re-released it at its 2021 launch price ($329) and it has since climbed ~50% to $495 (2026-09-28 snapshot) — it's the price anchor for the whole entry tier right now. At that same snapshot the used 3090 (see our weekly prices) is ~$1,300, so the 1500 sweet-spot build is no longer the automatic step up on price alone: it is the step up when you need 24GB for 32B models. For 7B–14B work, this $800 build stays the better value per token.
